I was kind of surprised to find an english-speaking group here. What is it all about? Are you just having fun or are there any of those who are not blessed with the knowledge of the great and powerfull Russian language?

I can hardly imagine a worse way to practice English:D Due to my humble observations, I doubt that turks on skype know any other English expressions apart from "open u cam", "open u cam plz" XD

if you want to find a decent language tandem partner why don't you try "my language exchange" website. just google it, i can't post any links. you are not supposed to pay for it, unless you want to send initial messages yourself and not justanswer the ones you get. But I used to use the free version of it and it was enough. Dang, I sound like a spammer lol.

I still haven't caught what the feature films do you watch? Does it mean that you just pick the matching words out from any film? Not an easily made thing! And how many of them (the films) do you watch usually?

Nataly, I take the new words for topic vocabulary from the feature films I watch, I just pick out those of them which match the needed topic. I have written my second essay on paper, but I still haven't posted it at our group forum. I think I will do it tonight. As well as posting my Fruit Vocabulary here

You`re right. probably  our fears can be called language barrier. I noticed that in many such travel countries their residents  very cheerfully babbling by primitive English, and we know some rules and grammar afraid to speak...

This month I joined two courses in real life. I need them so much to progress in my proffesional field. So, that's why hadn't time to my English, and DiOn group too. I try to put my time table in order.

As for Skype. Don't worry!!! )) And we don't need web camera, only microphone )

Let me give the benefit of my experience. One month ago I got one turkish man on Livemocha to practice English in Skype. I was really afraid before calling. But it was appeared that my English is better than his ))) ha-ha-ha  My fears were really foolish. )) So, imagine, what is easier for u: to talk to forigner or to russian friends from DiOn? ))

My 2nd composition isn't still checked. I'm already beginning to worry... And after sending of the first word list I still haven't recieved any letter or a note. How is it with your vocabularies?

By the way it was not very easy for meto invent the words on the topic "Acquaintance". I just found some words about characters and appearance, I hope them suits.

I think letter "E", which often meet at the end of many words, we can  ignore and to begin new word with the last after "e"...

when i write u, I actively use dictionaries and Google Translator. it`s secret my understandable English. i think)

And also feel some shyness before our communicating in Skype, more  - I do not have its number and a microphone and a webcam ))).. but I think this is not a problem, I asked my boyfriend today about it))

And what about my idea about game? I think it`s good idea  to make in our training with  elements of the game))

Barxat, playing Fruits-Vegetables is a great idea! At first thought, it seemed to be easy, but then I understood that even with dictionaries and Google it is not easy at all =)

First of all, I want to say that you could in no way slow down our studies, because each of us is actually studying on her own.  

Moreover, your English seems to be rather good (in my opinion), you just need to refresh your knowledge. You can also go to our DiOn English group and see that there are people with different levels of language skills there. It is sometimes difficult to understand what some of the beginners are trying to say, but they keep on working (and I believe that their English will improve very soon.) As for your messages, they are perfectly readable. 

I'm going to prepare 20 words for every topic we learn. If I like the topic I may learn more words, but 20 is my minimum. And as Kotia suggested, we can share our words with each other later.

I promised to send my "fruit words" to Kotia, but I think, that posting them here will be more convenient (we won't need to send the words twice). Girls, let's post them right here. Do you agree?

And the last thing. Skyyyype))))). I'm afraid of it too, because I'm a certified paranoic(I'm kidding, I'm just an introvert =) and I never liked the idea of publishing and spreading any my personal information on the Internet.

And, girls, I'm currently having a technical problem. My webcam refuses to work. They recommended me to try another driver for it - I hope, on the weekend it will be all right.

As for your questions, I'm not on a decree leave, I just do not work at the present time. My hobbies are reading, drawing (You said that you work as a designer, you know, I'd like to start studying design too one day =) - as for now I just install different applications for fun - the ones like Photoshop and Maya is to be the next one))) I also like working out with Jillian and jogging (as I've discovered recently) and I would play the piano and the guitar if I had the instruments (I can play, but we need to buy them first).

In general, I agree, but not sure that I will always be able to take part in weekend discussions on Skype. sorry girls, I have to leave now. All is Tomorrow, ok?))

Kotia, thanks for the new links =) I've downloaded the book and I'm going to read it one of these days, I've also found an audiobook "Eat,pray,love", but it's still being downloaded - so I cannot say yet, if it's a real one or just a fake. The trailers are intriguing, but anyhow I would watch the film because I always liked Julia Roberts! She's awesome!

I've enrolled to Dion English group and now I have to write several essays

Kotia, of course it will not be boring for me! For example, FRUITS seems to be an easy topic, but, believe me, there is a looong list of fruits I do not know the English name for (not just apple or pear, but those exotic ones). By the way, I think, that 2 hours a day is a lot of time, if you do it daily.

The idea of Skype discussions is just great, but I'm not sure if it is possible to organize "a conference" with several participants. Do you know how to do that? It seems to me that we need some business Skype-application. Or the ordinary one will do? 

Barxat, where are you hiding from us? What do you think about using Skype in our "studies"?

barxat, yeah, i'm still unter time pressure. But i'll find a time to studying English, 'cause it's very important for me. My work, on the field of computer graphics, give me a lot of possibilities but depends of knowing English. I want to study american video lectures (which nave no any subtitles) and different books, which could help me become a good specialist. Now I work as a designer: photo retuoching and sometimes interior visualisation. In the future, I want to work as concept artist for games and cinema. But this aim will take a lot of time and energy, and needs high level of English.

Oh, I'm glad u to choose Elizabeth Gilbert , in this interview she told about her best-seller "Eat, Pray, Love". I like this book so much. If u'll read it, we can discuss this one =)

I tnink, that it's reasonable to take a little task for a week and discuss them on the week-end by skype. Good idea! =) 

So, I propose to choose 1 big video lecture from lingualeo for a month, plus 1 task for a week, which we could discuss on the week-end by skype. For example, for this week we can take a task - FRUITS: different fruits, and fruit-salads. Next 2nd and 3rd week, smb else will choose a task for a week.  The last weekend of the mounth we'll discuss our big lection. That's why the last week of month we'll study and prepair only words from our big video-lecture.

Girls, what do u think it about?

Miaow-Murka, probably, it will be a little boring to study with us, but I really couldn't study English more faster. I plan to devote to English only 1-2 hours a day, 'cause I have no more free time.

I've just noticed that Kotia suggested to study each lection for one month and then discuss it in Skype. It's good to study the material as thoroughly as possible, but in this case we would speak about something we've learned only in the end of the month. Maybe we can make our tasks smaller and easier and discuss them more often? 

As I didn't notice that we had to finish only one of these lections in the end of the month I've watched both of them today. (Ooops!) Got 92 new words in my vocabulary))). Both videos are very inspirational and I think it was a really good choice, Kotia! Thanks! =) I watched them quickly because it's our habit (of me and my husband) to watch 1-2 "English" films a day (with subtitles, of course!), but I understand that other people work (I do not work currently) and may just not have enough time to complete such huge "exercises".

What if these lections will be our tasks for the month, and each week we'll make a short report about our progress. And as our everyday drills we could use the music videos of our favourite songs which we can also find in Lingualeo database. We could learn several new words from a song, make sure we understand what is this song about and then tell about it here, show the list of new words and tell if we liked the footage or not. What do you think about it?

I'm Ukrainian and I come from a small town in Donetsk region. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm one of those people, who can easily eat only porridge and dried fruits for entire year and not feel any need for the food of animal origin. Some people just cannot live without meat. And I can. What about you? Are you a herbivore or a carnivore?  

Girls, can I join you in your studies on Lingualeo? I'm registered on their site half a year ago, but I didn't use it often.

We can watch the episodes and share our thoughts here. We can also discuss which one of them proved to be easier and what parts were more difficult to understand.

Hi, girls! Well, what should I start with? I'm 25 years old. I've been here, on this site, for already 7 months and I'm very satisfied with the result. I want to succeed even more, but to do this I'll need to work much harded than I do now. Working on this.

Kotia, I like Jillian Michaels and her workouts too. I like her strong personality. The problem is I'm not so strong and I've never managed to complete even her 30 Day Shred, though I started it over for so many times. It seems I got stuck at Level 2 for the rest of my life((( Still I do not give up hope

Just like you do, I watch films and documentaries in English, listen to audiobooks and podcasts and use some of the on-line servives you stated in your earlier posts. For example, uztranslations is one of my old favourites))) Thanks for the links - some of them are new for me. I'm going to try livemocha, it's very interesting.

As for lingualeo - it's the source for studying words only, no any grammar. I propose two lections: about life, aims, struggle by writer Elizabeth Gilbert (video + ru/en subs) or by Steve Jobs (no subs).  Don't pay attantion on the level. I think, after such lecture we'll reach our vocabulary on 100 words ))) But if u like to start from smth. else, give me the link )

In Kiev I like little streets in the cetre of city with old architecture and little nice squares. Also I like big parks in the centre and in some km close Kiev. As for caffe and shops - I'm rare visitor ))

About DiOn rules - I think it's quite reasonable to use only one language for all main topics. But all rules have exceptions ) If some girls want to practice English in separate group... why not?! ) I think on DiOn there are a lot of  not thematic groups and themes (like games), is the English group inferior to them? Of, corse it isn't! So let English group be! )

Sorry for my late answer. On this weekend i was on birthday`s party my friends and now went home after my ballet class)

My main area of expertise is geological, ecological researches necessary for planning, building and reconstructions such objects like civil buildings? roads, bridges, pipelines for oil and gaz transportation, aerfields and others. For all in all)

i read many about jillian on this site, and even downloaded it, but didn`t get.. What is nessesary for this: dumbbells (new world in my vocabulary)))? I think jillian will be mine in this winter)
